As part of their expansion, they are seeking a highly experienced and driven Lead Agronomist to join their dynamic team.

    Role Overview:
    As the Lead Agronomist, you will oversee all aspects of agronomy for a cutting-edge glasshouse development currently under construction. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead tomato production in one of the most technologically advanced agricultural setups in the world. You will lead the growing operations, optimize crop yield and quality, and implement innovative solutions for tomato cultivation in challenging arid desert climates.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute agronomic strategies to maximize tomato yield and quality in glasshouse environments.
    • Oversee the implementation and optimization of state-of-the-art irrigation, fertigation, and climate control systems.
    • Conduct soil, water, and plant tissue analysis to inform nutrition and crop health programs.
    • Monitor and respond to crop growth conditions, pests, and diseases with precision, using integrated pest management (IPM) and other sustainable practices.
    • Collaborate with engineers, climate specialists, and operational staff to ensure optimal performance of glasshouse systems.
    • Lead a team of growers, providing mentorship and ensuring adherence to best agronomic practices.
    • Stay updated with global advancements in agronomy and integrate relevant technologies and methods.
    • Drive research and development initiatives to innovate and continuously improve production systems.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and sustainability standards.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Extensive experience in glasshouse tomato production, particularly in arid and desert climates.
    • Proven track record in managing large-scale commercial glasshouse operations.
    • Expertise in advanced irrigation systems, climate control technologies, and sustainable agricultural practices.
    • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making for crop optimization.
    • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities to manage and inspire a diverse team.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
    • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
